Open Gem USA is the hidden jewel of the DMV.
Founded in 2017, by Nature Boi & Sarcia Adkins, Open Gem was created with the purpose of giving artists an open mic platform to express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment. Grounded in a simple, sign up and perform format, the show started in a DC bar (Wicked Bloom) and instantly began fostering and impacting a small but mighty community. Over a decade of industry experience has nurtured a keen eye for balanced economics and an equitable future for artists, vendors, venues and the brand itself. With artist growth, development, and creative community at the forefront the platform began to grow; week by week, month by month, venue to venue.
Since the platforms birth, Open Gem has traveled to over 5 states and counting, expanding the footprint of not only the brand but the artist apart of the community. Mutually beneficial business relationships and an ever-growing community garnered the attention of Live Nation, leading to a pipeline for well vetted up and coming acts to perform in front of thousands. This perfectly demonstrated the ethos of the Open Gem ecosystem, keep things simple, execute, educate, and elevate. The pandemic provided the opportunity to focus on the digital aspects of the brand capturing more content than ever before while curating intimate yet COVID safe events.
